The Indiana Fever outlasted the Atlanta Dream 95-91 in an overtime contest Sunday evening at State Farm Arena, with Caitlin Clark delivering the decisive moments when the game’s outcome hung in the balance. Clark finished with 26 points and nine assists while also securing the game-sealing rebound after making two clutch free throws in the extra period.
A missed layup by Angel Reese at the end of regulation sent the game to overtime. With the score tied 81-81, Reese had a clean look at the basket following an offensive rebound but failed to convert, allowing Indiana to survive the final moments of the fourth quarter and extend the contest.
Indiana’s defense proved to be the decisive factor, holding Atlanta to just nine points in the fourth quarter while outscoring the Dream 17-9 during that span. The Fever surrendered 28 points to Atlanta in the third quarter, falling behind 72-64, but rallied to force the extra period through their defensive intensity.
Kelsey Mitchell contributed 20 points for Indiana, extending a streak of 19 consecutive 20-point games with a layup that gave the Fever a 93-88 advantage with 13.6 seconds remaining in overtime. Makayla Timpson added 20 points on efficient shooting, while Aliyah Boston posted 18 points and 14 rebounds with five steals and three blocks.
A controversial foul call on Clark with 10 seconds left allowed Rhyne Howard to attempt three free throws, which she made to narrow Indiana’s lead to 93-91. Clark responded by making both her free throws on the ensuing possession to essentially seal the win.
Reese recorded 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists for Atlanta but struggled with her shooting, going 5 for 16 from the field while committing four turnovers. Allisha Gray led the Dream with 32 points, and Atlanta made 25 of 26 free throw attempts but could not overcome the Fever’s fourth-quarter defensive performance.
