Authorities in Fort Lauderdale are investigating a boating incident that occurred early Saturday morning at Bahia Mar Dock, where police allege a man operated a vessel under the influence and collided with other boats moored at the location. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department responded to reports of the collision around 1:30 a.m., dispatching officers including a DUI specialist to the scene.

Video footage from the incident captured chaotic moments as the boat became secured to the dock while onlookers gathered. In recorded clips, one individual appeared to aim a firearm toward the operator of the damaged vessel, which sustained significant destruction including shattered windows and hull damage. The exact number of boats struck remains unclear pending the ongoing investigation.

Police identified the operator as Michael Bender and initially reported charges related to boating under the influence. Despite the allegations, Bender is not currently in custody as the investigation continues. Witnesses remained on scene waiting for police arrival as documented in additional video evidence from the incident.
