Authorities in Tennessee have taken into custody a Louisiana man suspected of fatally shooting his wife and then driving across state lines with her corpse positioned in the passenger seat of his vehicle. Tyronne Brazille, 50, was apprehended following a traffic stop in Memphis on Thursday, where officers discovered the body of Lanessa Bradford, 50, bearing a gunshot wound, according to reporting by WREG.

Investigators allege that Brazille shot Bradford during an altercation at Independence Community Park in Baton Rouge before embarking on a multi-state journey with her remains in the car. The suspect was detained in Memphis as a fugitive pending extradition proceedings to Louisiana, where he is expected to face murder charges following his return to the state.

Shelicka Decker, identified as a longtime associate of Bradford, revealed that the victim had been preparing to end the marriage and had accumulated savings for a fresh start away from Brazille. According to Decker, Bradford had coordinated with family members outside the area to facilitate her departure and had discussed Brazille’s previous threats of self-harm or violence whenever she mentioned leaving him.

Bradford’s absence from her position at an elementary school in Baton Rouge prompted administrators to request a welfare check at her residence. Decker characterized Bradford as a beloved figure in her community who positively influenced many families, while expressing shock at the alleged actions of someone she had known since childhood.

Brazille is scheduled for a court appearance on Monday as extradition arrangements move forward. He remains in custody facing murder charges in connection with Bradford’s death.
