Jason Dohring, best known for his role as Logan Echolls on “Veronica Mars,” has traded the entertainment industry for life as a farmer. The 44-year-old actor revealed during an appearance on the “Don’t Do Nothing” podcast that he developed an agricultural passion roughly four years ago and ultimately told his talent representatives he intended to pursue farming full-time.

Dohring’s farming journey began in Los Angeles with small-scale gardening efforts. He subsequently established a 14-acre operation in West Virginia, where he personally planted approximately 3,500 of the 4,000 trees cultivated on the property, which include apple, cherry, pear, peach and nectarine varieties. The actor credits his expanding interest in agriculture to concerns about food safety and the illnesses he believes result from industrial farming practices.

The former actor now operates an 11-acre farm in Florida alongside his wife, Lauren Kutner, and their four children: Owen, Lily, Ainsley Mae and Isla Avery. He selected Florida specifically for its favorable climate and abundant water resources, contrasting the region’s precipitation with California’s extended dry seasons. Water restrictions in California had prevented him from drilling wells on his previous properties.

Dohring employs regenerative farming methods that eliminate chemical inputs, allowing crops to flourish naturally. He recounted a recent encounter with an elderly agricultural veteran who expressed astonishment at his farm’s conditions, stating he had worked in farming since age 12 but had never witnessed anything comparable. The actor emphasized that conditions on his property continue improving through sustainable practices.

Dohring appeared on “Veronica Mars” opposite Kristen Bell from 2004 to 2007, followed by roles in “Moonlight,” “The Originals,” and a 2014 feature film. He returned for the show’s 2019 revival and completed four episodes of “SEAL Team” in 2021. Though currently focused on farming, Dohring acknowledged he may eventually return to acting and has already completed a short film for a friend.

The actor married Kutner in 2004, shortly before “Veronica Mars” premiered. The couple met during high school and developed a friendship that Dohring credits as the foundation of their marriage. He celebrated their 20-year anniversary on Instagram in July 2024, describing their life together and family as exceptional.
