Body camera footage released by the Hialeah Police Department captures officers performing emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a 1-year-old boy discovered unconscious in a residential swimming pool. The dramatic rescue unfolded during the May 12 incident as officers worked to restore the child’s breathing within seconds of arrival at the scene.
Audio from the police radio documents the critical moments as one officer reports the toddler’s condition, noting “Baby’s responsive, but barely breathing” while observing water emanating from the child’s mouth. Emergency medical personnel subsequently took custody of the boy and transported him to a nearby hospital for continued treatment.
Officers Renato Bejar and Hector Rosado have both received commendations for their quick actions and courage during the emergency response. The child has since recovered and is reportedly in good health, according to department officials.
