New York City’s pre-kindergarten enrollment process resulted in offers to more than 2,000 children, according to recent announcements from city education officials. The initial round of placements demonstrates the city’s continued expansion of early childhood education access to families across the five boroughs.
Among families who received initial offers in this enrollment cycle, 82 percent secured placement at one of their three preferred programs. The data underscores the city’s success in aligning family priorities with available seats in its pre-K network.
More significantly, the majority of families—representing more than half of those offered spots—were able to enroll their children in their first-choice program. The outcome reflects improvements in the city’s matching system and increased availability of quality pre-K seats across various neighborhoods.
