Hundreds of mourners assembled in Queens on Friday to pay final respects to Staff Sgt. Angel Rampersad, a U.S. soldier whose life was cut short when Iranian missiles struck an American military base in Jordan. State officials and military leadership joined family members at the funeral service to honor the fallen serviceman.
Rampersad’s death came as part of a broader Iranian military campaign targeting U.S. personnel and installations in the Middle East. The attack on the Jordan facility resulted in multiple casualties among American forces stationed there.
The funeral brought together Rampersad’s relatives, fellow soldiers, and community leaders who remembered his service and dedication to the armed forces. State representatives acknowledged the sacrifice made by Rampersad and other military members who lost their lives in the operation.
