Oklahoma City has agreed to send starting forward and defensive specialist Lu Dort to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team transaction announced Sunday, according to a source briefed on the arrangement who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. The blockbuster deal will not become official until receiving league approval from the NBA.

Under the agreement, Atlanta will dispatch 2023 No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher to the Dallas Mavericks while also receiving guard Ryan Nembhard from the same franchise. Oklahoma City will acquire three heavily protected second-round selections in exchange for Dort’s departure, the person said.

The transaction provides the Thunder relief from salary obligations needed to position themselves below the second apron threshold. Atlanta gains an elite two-way performer in Dort, while Dallas adds another top-tier prospect to its roster that already includes 2011 No. 1 pick Kyrie Irving and 2025 No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg—the most first-overall selections currently assembled on a single NBA team.

Over seven seasons with Oklahoma City, Dort posted an average of 11.6 points per contest. Risacher, who finished as runner-up for rookie of the year honors during the 2024-25 campaign, averaged 11.1 points across two seasons in Atlanta. Nembhard contributed 6.6 points as a rookie for Dallas this past season.
