Emergency personnel in Boynton Beach conducted a specialized rescue operation Thursday after a dog fell approximately 10 feet into a confined space within a lift station. The animal had plunged into approximately two feet of raw sewage, prompting officials to classify the incident as a Special Operations confined space rescue upon initial assessment.
A firefighter descended into the station and extracted the dog in under five minutes, with both individuals emerging safely from the hazardous environment. Once removed from the sewage, the animal received decontamination and oxygen treatment before being returned to its owner.
