A refreshing watermelon margarita combines fresh fruit sweetness with zesty citrus undertones and a standout spiced rim for a sophisticated warm-weather cocktail. This recipe works well for outdoor entertaining and casual gatherings where guests appreciate craft beverages.
Essential equipment includes a cocktail shaker, appropriate glassware, and a jigger for precise ingredient measurement. The distinctive rim coating uses only Tajin seasoning and lime, requiring minimal additional preparation for an impressive presentation.
The drink’s foundation rests on six ounces of freshly pressed watermelon juice combined with two ounces of blanco tequila. Two ounces of Cointreau or Grand Marnier liqueur and two ounces of fresh lime juice—pressed from one to two whole limes—complete the liquid components.
Prepare by running a lime wedge around the glass rim and pressing it firmly into Tajin seasoning for even coverage. Fill the shaker with ice, add all liquid ingredients, and shake vigorously for approximately ten seconds until well-chilled.
Pour the strained mixture over fresh ice into the prepared glass and crown with fresh mint and a lime wheel for garnish. The cocktail should be consumed immediately to preserve optimal flavor and refreshment quality.
