Berlin authorities halted a major pride celebration Saturday following a vehicle attack that claimed at least one life and left numerous attendees injured. Police deployed extensive personnel across the Großer Tiergarten area, coordinating with rescue units from the Berlin Fire Department to assist the wounded.
The attack occurred during the Christopher Street Day festival, an annual LGBTQ+ pride event drawing hundreds of thousands of participants. The gathering, which featured a parade and evening entertainment near the Brandenburg Gate, was immediately shut down after the incident.
Emergency responders reported treating multiple victims on scene, with investigators noting that several sustained injuries considered life-threatening. Police launched what they described as an intensive manhunt, indicating the suspect or suspects remained at large as of Saturday evening.
