A warm and humid morning will give way to scattered thundershowers through midday before conditions clear, according to forecasters. Afternoon temperatures are expected to climb into the lower and middle 90s, with heat index readings potentially reaching 108 degrees across South Florida.
A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Broward and Miami-Dade counties through the day as dangerously hot conditions persist. Coastal communities are anticipated to remain largely dry with sunny skies and gusty winds extending into the early evening hours, while most storm activity is expected to develop inland.
Tropical Depression 2 is anticipated to strengthen into a tropical storm today, though forecasters indicate the system will produce no direct impacts to the region throughout the week. Drier air associated with the system’s passage is projected to move in by midweek, temporarily reducing storm chances and allowing temperatures to remain above seasonal norms with afternoon heat index values approaching advisory thresholds.
