Actress Jennifer Garner has opened up about the financial worries that gripped her in the aftermath of her divorce from Ben Affleck, revealing she felt compelled to reassess her career trajectory and earning potential. During an appearance on the “Aspire with Emma Grede” podcast, Garner discussed how her work had significantly slowed during her marriage, leaving her vulnerable once the relationship ended. The mother of three acknowledged the harsh reality that the entertainment industry does not guarantee sustained employment or income as performers age.

Garner, who shares three children with Affleck, explained that she suddenly faced the pressure of being the primary financial provider for her family. She noted that her previous professional choices had prioritized her role as a parent, making it impossible to accept extended film shoots that required months away from Los Angeles. This constraint forced her to develop a different approach to her career and financial security.

The former “Alias” star met Affleck on the set of “Pearl Harbor” in 2001, though their romantic relationship did not begin until after they appeared together in “Daredevil” in 2003. The couple married in 2005 and divorced in 2015. Garner emphasized that celebrity status alone does not guarantee financial stability, stressing the importance of being an active earner regardless of public recognition.

Two years following the divorce, Garner co-founded Once Upon A Farm, an organic children’s food company, marking a significant entrepreneurial venture. She has previously described the period surrounding her family’s separation as a time of considerable upheaval that limited her work opportunities for an extended period.

Reflecting on her experience as a single parent managing work and family life, Garner stressed the importance of self-compassion and releasing perfectionist ideals. She acknowledged that raising children across two households requires parents to assume multiple roles and that imperfection is inevitable when balancing professional and personal responsibilities.
