Former President Donald Trump seized on a moment of disruption during a Friday evening campaign event in Myrtle Beach, turning a protester’s interruption into a jab at the demonstrator’s family. As the individual was removed from the convention center by security personnel at approximately 7:28 p.m., Trump paused his remarks to comment on the commotion, suggesting the heckler would face parental disapproval upon returning home.
“That person’s going home to mom. Gonna get scolded because mom is voting for us,” Trump said, emphasizing his claim twice before resuming his speech. The exchange reflected his characteristic style of responding to disruptions during public appearances with ad-libbed commentary.
Trump traveled to South Carolina’s coastal city to energize voters ahead of Tuesday’s Senate runoff, where Republican candidate Darline Graham faces a critical test. Though Trump’s name will not appear on the ballot, he urged his supporters to treat the race as though his candidacy hung in the balance, imploring them to imagine his presence on the ticket.
Addressing the crowd, Trump laid out his case for Graham’s election, citing her positions on tax policy, immigration enforcement, and Second Amendment protections. He also highlighted her potential contributions to military advocacy, asserting she would rank among the Senate’s strongest defenders of armed forces interests.
Graham took the stage alongside Trump following his remarks, expressing gratitude for his endorsement and acknowledging his longstanding relationship with her late brother, former Senator Lindsey Graham. She characterized the state as aligned with Trump’s political movement before departing the event.
