Projectiles landed on the court during the Chicago Sky’s matchup against Golden State on Friday evening, halting play in the third quarter of a 73-70 Sky victory. The disruption marked the second consecutive night of such an incident affecting WNBA competition, with arena staff removing the items while players remained in position.
A comparable delay occurred Thursday when Atlanta defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 124-88. Authorities in Los Angeles identified a male individual who was apprehended by security personnel, issued a citation and subsequently released, according to law enforcement reports.
These occurrences mirror a pattern from the previous season, when similar incidents disrupted games in Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles. Some of those earlier events resulted in criminal charges being filed against spectators involved.
