Wyndham Clark continued his flawless play Friday at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, carding his second straight 6-under 64 to establish a commanding one-shot advantage over Gary Woodland heading into the final 36 holes of the BMW Championship. The two-time U.S. Open champion has navigated 36 holes without a single bogey, positioning himself as the favorite to capture the playoff event.

Clark’s tournament record stands at 12-under 128 through two rounds. His closest pursuer, Woodland, posted a 65 to reach 11-under 129 after birdies on his final two holes. J.J. Spaun, who celebrated his 36th birthday with a 66, sits two shots back at 10-under 130. All three competitors have already secured spots in the top 30 of the FedEx Cup standings, guaranteeing their advancement to next week’s Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta.

Woodland, a native of Kansas playing just under four hours from his home, is attempting to reach the Tour Championship for the first time in six years. The golfer continues managing effects from brain surgery performed in 2023, implementing recovery protocols between rounds. “I’m tired,” Woodland acknowledged following his round, noting that post-round rest in cool, dark environments remains essential to his routine.

Sungjae Im trails by three shots at 9-under 131 after his 64. Patrick Cantlay and Rocket Classic winner Michael Thorbjornsen occupy a tie for fourth place at 8-under 132, following rounds of 65 and 66 respectively. Im, ranked 40th in FedEx Cup points, seeks to extend his streak of reaching the Tour Championship in every season since joining the PGA Tour in 2019.

Scottie Scheffler, despite recovering from Thursday’s 72 with a 65 Friday, fell nine shots behind Clark. Already assured of the $23 million bonus as the top seed heading to East Lake, Scheffler continues battling an illness that has affected his performance. Rory McIlroy managed only two birdies in his 69, placing him five shots back.
