Von Miller has agreed to a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys and intends to report to the club’s California training facility on Monday rather than wait for the team to complete its annual three-week camp in Oxnard. The move marks the third team in as many seasons for the veteran defensive end, who also spent the past year with Washington in the NFC East.
The 37-year-old defensive end, who holds the NFL’s active record for career sacks with 138.5, recorded nine sacks during his 2023 season with the Commanders. Miller previously played for Buffalo before being released due to salary cap constraints, then spent one year in Washington before this latest move to his home state.
A native of the Dallas area who attended Texas A&M University, Miller was drafted second overall by Denver in 2011 and became the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year with 11.5 sacks in his debut. He earned All-Pro honors three times during his first six seasons and won a Super Bowl championship with the Broncos during their 2015 title run, capturing MVP honors for his defensive performance against Seattle.
Miller added another championship ring with the 2021 Los Angeles Rams, who acquired him from Denver in a midseason trade. His recent stint in Washington marked his most productive season since winning his second Super Bowl title, though he has primarily served as a backup over the past three years.
