A 7.4-magnitude earthquake devastated western Colombia, prompting BOXR Gym to organize a fundraising run Monday evening in downtown Miami to support affected residents. Search-and-rescue operations began immediately Monday morning across multiple cities, including Quibdó, Cali, Pereira, and Manizales, as teams worked to locate survivors beneath collapsed structures.
The death toll had reached at least 254 people by Wednesday, with Cali accounting for 95 fatalities and Pereira reporting 79 deaths, according to government sources. Colombian President Abelardo De La Espriella, inaugurated Friday in Cali, surveyed damage in Quibdó on Monday and Pereira on Tuesday, estimating approximately 2,595 people injured and over 1,000 homes destroyed.
The BOXR Gym benefit run begins at 6:30 p.m. at the facility located at 1310 NE First Avenue, just north of Interstate 395.
