The Marine Corps confirmed Friday that an F-35B stealth fighter crashed in the vicinity of Miramar Marine Corps Air Base in San Diego. Emergency response teams at the base were mobilized immediately following the incident.
The pilot ejected from the aircraft and was safely recovered, according to military officials. No further details regarding injuries or the cause of the crash were immediately disclosed.
