Brittany Kaiser, CEO of Alpha Compute, explained to Fox News Digital that all technology use—from social media to email—involves data processing within these centers.

The explosive growth in data center construction stems largely from artificial intelligence applications, which demand substantially more processing power than conventional online activities. Kaiser noted that AI systems process far greater volumes of data compared to routine email and social media usage, driving an industry-wide expansion across multiple states.

Social media platforms including Instagram and TikTok, along with email services and mobile banking applications, depend entirely on data center infrastructure to manage user information. When consumers open apps, upload photos or send messages, their devices connect to remote servers that retrieve and deliver content within seconds, with computational work occurring far from users’ hands.

Online gaming platforms similarly rely on data centers to connect players, synchronize gameplay and minimize lag that degrades user experience.

Artificial intelligence applications demand unprecedented computing resources as systems analyze information and generate responses in real time. This processing intensity has made specialized AI-capable data centers critical infrastructure for the technology sector’s future development.

Emerging technologies including autonomous vehicles, advanced robotics and scientific research require increasingly sophisticated data center infrastructure to train artificial intelligence systems and process massive datasets.
