According to royal commentators, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to maintain a low profile when Prince George begins his first term at Eton College this September, refraining from releasing photographs, issuing statements or creating competing news coverage. Royal broadcaster Neil Sean told Fox News Digital that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have informed King Charles they will not interfere with or distract from the 13-year-old’s school debut, with the understanding extending to public commentary on the specific date.

A spokesperson for Archewell declined to address the report when contacted by Fox News Digital, while Kensington Palace has not yet responded to requests for comment. Kensington Palace announced in June that George will attend the prestigious boarding school this fall, joining his father Prince William and uncle Prince Harry as alumni of the institution.

Royal analyst Amanda Matta emphasized that George’s enrollment marks far more than a routine first day of school, characterizing it as the official launch of his public role as the heir to the throne. She suggested palace officials view any potentially competing headlines—particularly those involving the Sussexes—as threats to the carefully constructed image of steady leadership and future focus that the Prince and Princess of Wales have cultivated.

The Sussexes announced last week through a statement to The New York Times that they intend to spend an extended period in the United Kingdom during autumn, allowing their children increased time in a country central to their family heritage. The couple confirmed their business operations will continue from California and that they plan to maintain their U.S. residence.

Matta cautioned that the reported understanding likely represents an informal arrangement rather than a binding agreement, noting that the couple’s prominence makes complete separation from royal news cycles virtually impossible. She observed that even mundane activities by either Meghan or Harry generate substantial media attention regardless of intent, complicating efforts to maintain a news blackout around significant palace events.

Broadcaster Hilary Fordwich noted that the mere presence or absence of the Sussexes at public appearances inevitably generates speculation and potential headline conflicts with palace priorities. She characterized George’s first term as a private family transition that should remain insulated from broader media narratives.

Sean indicated that the September school term will serve as the first substantial test of whether the reported restraint holds, stating that observers “can only assume that they will stick to their word.” Matta suggested the arrangement represents at best a tentative “headline truce” while questioning whether Harry and Meghan should shoulder primary responsibility for coordinating their lives around the royal calendar.
