Dr. Ranjith Ramasamy, the former University of Miami urologist facing three sexual battery counts in Miami-Dade County, released a video Friday in which he rejected the accusations against him as unfounded. The 45-year-old physician characterized his accusers as “disgruntled members of the university community” while maintaining his innocence in the statement. Ramasamy served as an assistant professor of urology from 2015 to 2020 and later as a professor of urology from 2020 to 2024 at the Miller School of Medicine, where he also directed the Reproductive Urology Fellowship program.
According to an arrest warrant issued October 20, a detective reported interviewing six potential victims but advancing charges in three cases involving men aged 28, 37, and 40. The youngest accuser was identified as a student who viewed Ramasamy as a mentor, while the 37-year-old had familial ties to the accused through his brother’s enrollment in Ramasamy’s program. The third complainant worked as a surgical resident under Ramasamy’s direct supervision.
Ramasamy surrendered Thursday at Miami International Airport and appeared before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer, who set his bond at $120,000 and imposed house arrest with GPS monitoring. The judge also issued a protective order barring contact with the three accusers. Circuit Judge Tany Brinkley is managing the case, with the next hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on August 25.
In 2024, Ramasamy relocated to the United Arab Emirates to serve as a consultant urologist at the Jumeirah American Clinic in Dubai, according to court documents. Investigators noted that the three named complainants were not the sole individuals to make allegations against him.
