With 76 days remaining before the general election, Democratic State Rep. Angie Nixon and Republican Sen. Ashley Moody have intensified their campaigns to advance their respective visions for Florida’s U.S. Senate seat. Nixon has begun engaging moderate Democrats who supported primary rival Alex Vindman, seeking to build a broader coalition ahead of the November 3 contest.

During her primary campaign, Nixon drew backing from Republican and independent voters who switched party affiliations to support her candidacy, she noted. She pledged to continue direct outreach to moderates and those from opposing parties, emphasizing her willingness to address contentious issues. “I don’t run away from hard questions. I believe that is what helps us progress here in this country, when we have those uncomfortable conversations,” Nixon stated.

Vindman, whom Nixon defeated in the Democratic primary, acknowledged the outcome while endorsing his former rival’s general election bid. “We came up short, but we have an Angie Nixon, and we can congratulate her on the win and take this battle forward to November,” Vindman said.

Moody secured the Republican nomination Tuesday and vowed to retain the Senate seat she has held for just over a year following her 2023 appointment by Gov. Ron DeSantis to replace U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “We are standing for common sense, a commitment to safe communities, a commitment to accountable and responsive government,” Moody said.
