Rep. Jared Moskowitz secured victory Tuesday in Florida’s 25th District Democratic primary over Oliver Larkin, a candidate endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America, according to the Associated Press. The heavily redrawn swing district sits among roughly two dozen House seats expected to determine control of the chamber in upcoming midterm elections.

Moskowitz used social media to taunt Hasan Piker, a prominent left-wing online personality who had supported Larkin’s campaign. “My condolences to @hasanthehun,” the congressman posted on X. Piker swiftly responded, accusing Moskowitz of prioritizing criticism of Israel over gratitude to voters.

The moderate Democrat doubled down on criticism of his opponent’s backing. “Democrats shouldn’t play hide the Piker now,” Moskowitz said, urging party members to distance themselves from the streamer. He later characterized DSA members as “anti-American at their core.”

Piker struck back, questioning Moskowitz’s mental well-being and suggesting he refocus on the general election. The exchange highlights an ongoing debate within Democratic circles about whether the party should embrace or distance itself from far-left figures like the streamer.

Political commentator Kaivan Schroff noted an asymmetry in coverage, suggesting moderate Democratic victories receive less fanfare than comparable progressive wins. He argued Moskowitz’s public attack served a strategic purpose by forcing examination of both perspectives in the ideological dispute.
