Miami experienced an unprecedented high of 100 degrees Tuesday, establishing a new all-time temperature record for the city. Wednesday morning conditions remain sweltering, with lows hovering in the mid-80s and heat index values already climbing into the 90s before midday.
Forecasters predict Wednesday’s peak temperatures will approach the upper 90s, though the combination of heat and humidity will create dangerous conditions with heat index values between 105 and 112 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory effective from 11 a.m. through 7 p.m. Wednesday, warning residents of hazardous heat exposure.
Another record-tying day is possible, with the forecast high of 97 degrees approaching Miami’s previous record of 96 degrees, which was set in 1909. Afternoon relief is expected as scattered showers move into the forecast late Wednesday, potentially providing temporary respite from the intense heat.
