Actor David Henrie, best known for his role as Justin Russo on Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place,” has observed a notable uptick in young worshippers attending Mass and attributes the phenomenon to a generational search for spiritual meaning. In an interview with Fox News Digital, the Catholic performer described witnessing increasing numbers of young people at religious services, which he interprets as evidence of a broader cultural pivot toward faith among younger demographics seeking purpose beyond material pursuits.

Henrie’s own spiritual journey mirrors what he sees happening across the country. The actor acknowledged that he once lived without Christian faith before experiencing an inner emptiness that prompted his return to religion, describing the world as having felt “completely empty” until he discovered something transcendent to fill that void.

Catholic institutions nationwide have documented significant growth in adult conversions, while recent polling data reinforces the trend. A Gallup survey revealed that 42% of young men now identify religion as “very important” to their lives, representing a 14 percentage point increase from the prior year.

Henrie contends that young adherents gravitate toward traditions steeped in historical liturgical practices rather than contemporary approaches. He described the appeal as “Lord of the Rings Catholicism,” noting young believers favor ceremonial elements, ancient Latin Mass, and traditional expressions of faith, explaining the recent surge in Latin Mass attendance among younger congregants.
