A shooting spree across rural Missaukee County, Michigan left six people dead Friday, including the man authorities believe carried out the attacks. Michigan State Police launched an investigation after discovering multiple victims at different locations throughout the region, officials said.
Officers responding Friday morning found three people killed and one wounded at a residence near LaChance Road and Kelly Road in Richland Township, according to local reports. Additional victims were discovered at a second home and in a wooded area nearby.
State police identified Chad Hickman, 39, as the suspected shooter and issued an alert describing him as armed and dangerous. Hickman was subsequently located and found dead, though authorities have not disclosed the circumstances of his death.
Michigan State Police Public Information Officer Lt. Ashley Miller acknowledged the toll the incident has taken on investigators and the community. “This type of loss is tragic,” Miller told reporters, adding that a thorough investigation would be conducted to keep residents informed as details emerge.
Police have not released information regarding the motive behind the shootings or any connections between the victims and the suspect.
