Passengers aboard United Airlines Flight 1302 were ordered to evacuate Thursday after airport security discovered a live round on the aircraft before takeoff from Denver International Airport. The Boeing 737-900, bound for San Diego, was undergoing routine preflight checks when the bullet was located, prompting immediate evacuation procedures and a comprehensive aircraft search.
All 178 passengers and six crew members deplaned carrying only their carry-on baggage while security personnel conducted a full sweep of the plane. A crew member announced the discovery over the aircraft’s public address system, describing the situation as a security breach and explaining that the aircraft would remain grounded until cleared.
Neither United Airlines nor security officials could immediately determine the bullet’s origin or how it came to be aboard the aircraft. The airline confirmed the incident in a statement to Fox News Digital, indicating that security personnel ultimately cleared the plane for departure.
The flight was originally scheduled to depart at approximately 1:25 p.m. but did not take off until 3:41 p.m., resulting in a delay of more than two hours. United Airlines referred additional inquiries about the security incident to the Transportation Security Administration.
