Matthew Holloway, 21, arrived in Broward County custody Wednesday following his surrender to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Monticello, Florida, on Sunday. The extradition marks the apprehension of the final suspect sought in connection with a deadly May 8 shooting incident near the 7900 block of Southwest Seventh Court in North Lauderdale.
Holloway faces one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted felony murder related to the early morning shooting. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to gunfire reports around 1 a.m. and discovered 19-year-old O’Mari Doe suffering multiple gunshot wounds inside a 2020 Ford Mustang. Doe was transported by helicopter to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead.
A second victim, 20-year-old Maurice Vorroto, sustained a gunshot wound outside the vehicle but his injuries were not life-threatening. Investigators determined that Doe, Vorroto, and two other individuals occupied the Mustang when five armed suspects arrived in a black Honda Accord and discharged multiple rounds into the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement pursued the Honda Accord after a Fort Lauderdale police officer spotted the vehicle, eventually locating it abandoned near the 900 block of Southwest 13th Street in Fort Lauderdale. Previously arrested suspects include Aamir Dennard Adams, 19; Anthony Adams, 18; Amari Adams, 16; and Romayne Smith, 17.
As of Thursday morning, Holloway, Aamir Adams, and Anthony Adams remained held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail pending trial.
