New York Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson acknowledged his deep passion for video games during a candid conversation with his mother, Sandra Brunson, on a forthcoming podcast episode. When asked what he couldn’t live without, the 29-year-old basketball star initially wanted to answer video games before deferring to his mother’s choice of family. The interview will air as part of the third season of Lindsay Czarniak’s podcast.
Brunson currently plays FC 26, EA Sports’ latest soccer simulation title, and has been anticipating the release of the next version in the series. His mother revealed that as a child, Brunson earned his gaming time by completing educational tasks such as reading books, which limited his console access. However, a loophole existed in the household rules: he could play video games whenever a friend visited.
Two of Brunson’s closest college friends from Villanova, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges, now play alongside him on the Knicks roster. Under his parents’ original gaming restrictions, Brunson would have ample time to play during the NBA season given the frequent presence of these teammates. The trio helped lead the Knicks to their first championship in 53 years last June.
