A prolonged confrontation at a hotel restaurant culminated in police using a Taser on a 35-year-old man who had spent more than two hours refusing to leave the establishment. Richard James Scott was subsequently handcuffed and arrested, later appearing in bond court on Sunday afternoon where his case was addressed by a judge.
The incident began when Scott attempted to settle a bill for drinks using a fraudulent credit card at Primo’s restaurant. When staff rejected the card, Scott claimed he would charge the purchase to his hotel room, providing the number 666—which proved to be fictitious. Restaurant operations manager Ugo Patierno recalled Scott’s behavior escalating as the situation progressed.
According to Patierno, Scott made claims about his identity before becoming increasingly aggressive toward staff members and customers. Despite repeated requests to vacate the premises, Scott refused to leave, prompting staff to contact local police to resolve the standoff.
Cellphone video documented the moment officers deployed a Taser on Scott outside the restaurant after he attempted to enter a Rolls-Royce that did not belong to him. He was transported to jail and booked on charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct. A judge set his bond at $650 and issued an order prohibiting him from returning to the hotel and restaurant.
