“Highlander” Actor Christopher Lambert Hospitalized After Collapse at Philadelphia Convention

Christopher Lambert, the 69-year-old French actor famous for his role in the 1986 film “Highlander,” experienced a medical emergency at Steel City Con in Philadelphia during the weekend event. Convention organizers cited dehydration and overheating as the cause, requiring Lambert to leave a scheduled meet-and-greet session and receive ambulance transport to a nearby hospital.

Lambert’s representative attributed the incident to insufficient sleep the previous evening and minimal food consumption throughout the day, which resulted in a significant drop in blood sugar levels. Steel City Con officials confirmed to People magazine that Lambert had become overheated and dehydrated, though he was stable and resting comfortably at his hotel following the incident.

Despite the health scare, the convention announced that Lambert was expected to resume his scheduled appearances on Sunday, including a noon Q&A panel and photo opportunities. The actor’s three-day appearance at the Aug. 7-9 event had been planned for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday slots.

Lambert’s career highlights include portraying immortal swordsman Connor MacLeod in “Highlander” and taking on roles in “Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes” in 1984 and “Mortal Kombat” in 1995. He remains active in convention appearances despite a back injury sustained from a fall at a hotel last year, which forced him to cancel a scheduled appearance at Sweden’s SciFiWorld festival in March 2025.

The actor has upcoming convention commitments scheduled for later this month, including appearances at Fan Expo Chicago and Mad Monster Expo in North Carolina.
