Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour concluded Sunday at the Wyndham Championship without a berth in the season’s playoff events. The five-time major champion shot 70 in his final round to finish the tournament at 3-under par with a T67 finish, 19 strokes back of winner Michael Brennan and outside the top 70 in FedExCup standings required for playoff participation.
Koepka pulled no punches assessing his performance following the missed cut from the St. Jude Championship and subsequent playoff tournaments. “I think it’s pretty pathetic that I can’t get through,” he said, citing his lack of top-10 finishes over the past two years and expressing disappointment about underperforming during his peak competitive years.
The golfer’s decision to leave LIV Golf and rejoin the PGA Tour at the start of the season carried significant financial and competitive consequences. Officials estimated his forfeited earnings at roughly $85 million, while additional restrictions limited his event eligibility and barred him from the $100 million FedExCup bonus program in 2026.
Despite his frustration, Koepka’s campaign produced modest highlights across 16 starts. He made 11 cuts including a T12 finish at The Masters in April, with his best result coming at the Cognizant Classic in March where a T9 placement hinted at a potential turnaround.
Koepka attributed his struggles primarily to his short game, admitting to confidence issues on the greens. He nevertheless expressed contentment about his overall return to the PGA Tour circuit and plans to compete in DP World Tour events abroad while preparing for the fall schedule.
