Firefighters with the New York City Fire Department engaged in active firefighting operations Wednesday at a multi-unit residential building in Norwood, a neighborhood in the Bronx. The blaze, which spread rapidly through the structure, has left at least five people requiring medical attention.
Emergency responders classified two of the injured victims as being in critical condition, according to FDNY officials on scene. The extent of injuries sustained by the remaining three individuals has not been fully detailed.
Crews continued their efforts to contain and extinguish the fire as of the report’s filing. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by city authorities.
