A brush fire burning adjacent to U.S. 41 in the Everglades resulted in temporary closure of the roadway in both directions Sunday, according to authorities. The incident also triggered a precautionary evacuation of the nearby Everglades Safari Park as a safety measure.
Details regarding the fire’s dimensions, origin, and whether any structures sustained damage remain unavailable from officials at this time. Authorities coordinated emergency response efforts to bring the situation under control.
Motorists received advisories to circumvent the affected area and select alternative routes while first responders worked at the scene. The highway has since reopened to normal traffic flow.
