A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train Sunday night in Pompano Beach, authorities confirmed. The Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Dixie Highway and Northeast Second Street after receiving reports of a train-versus-pedestrian collision.

First responders from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived to find the victim already deceased. Emergency crews were unable to provide aid at the scene where the person had succumbed to injuries from the impact.

Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene and Homicide units assumed control of the investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal incident. The agency has not released additional details regarding the victim’s identity or the exact cause of the collision.
