Torrie Wilson, the WWE Hall of Famer who recently celebrated her 51st birthday in July, disclosed this past weekend that she came dangerously close to abandoning her social media presence altogether. The decision to step back nearly happened years ago following an unexpected phone call from someone she considered a trusted confidant, who believed Wilson should reconsider her online posting habits.
The unnamed friend suggested that Wilson no longer needed to share what was characterized as “sexy” photographs with her followers. Wilson described the interaction as offering unsolicited counsel that carried an air of judgment, prompting her to cease posting content for an extended period. “Honestly? It stung. I felt judged by someone I cared about, and for a long time, I stopped posting altogether,” she wrote in reflecting on the experience.
The comment proved particularly hurtful because Wilson had reached a pivotal moment of self-acceptance and confidence in her own body. She emphasized that after 37 years of disciplined weight training, proper nutrition, and consistent exercise habits, she had finally achieved a sense of freedom and comfort in her own skin. The criticism from her friend contradicted this newfound empowerment during what she described as a transformative personal period.
Wilson eventually overcame the negative impact of that conversation and reclaimed her decision-making authority. She recognized that continuing to share images of herself reflected not narcissism but rather a celebration of the dedication and discipline she had invested in her physical and mental well-being. “I’m not celebrating perfection. I’m celebrating discipline, consistency, health, and feeling at home in my own skin,” she stated, vowing she would no longer apologize for her choices.
