Corbin Reclaims US Championship at SummerSlam, Ending Williams’ 105-Day Reign

Baron Corbin’s return to WWE reached its apex Sunday night at SummerSlam when he defeated Trick Williams to capture the United States Championship. Corbin, who rejoined the promotion weeks prior and immediately targeted Williams’ title, secured victory by capitalizing on a pivotal moment of distraction during the match.

Williams entered the contest with his associate, rapper Lil Yachty, positioned at ringside as his usual advantage. However, Yachty’s presence backfired when he threatened Corbin with the “Trick Stick,” redirecting the challenger’s focus toward Williams. Later in the bout, Yachty became an unintended liability when Corbin hip-checked Williams into his manager, sending Yachty through a table on the arena floor.

With Williams and the referee distracted by the chaos at ringside, Corbin seized the opportunity to strike his opponent with the championship belt. He followed with his signature End of Days finishing move and secured the pinfall victory to claim his second US Championship reign.

Corbin’s first US Championship victory came in 2017. Williams’ reign ended after 105 days, having won the title against Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42. Prior to his WWE return, Corbin competed on the independent wrestling circuit, including Major League Wrestling, where he held the tag team championship alongside Donovan Dijak.
