Aaron Rodgers recently reunited with his estranged parents and brother after more than a decade of separation, attributing the breakthrough to his wife Brittani’s steady support. During an interview with NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback discussed viral photos from a recent bonding week in Nashville where he spent time with his father Ed, mother Darla, and brother Luke alongside their families.
Rodgers praised Brittani’s role in facilitating the reconciliation without exerting pressure on him. “I’m happy to be reunited and that part of my life is a really beautiful addition and I got to give my wife a lot of credit – not that she was pushing me, because she never was, but just the way that she loves and supports me,” he said. He emphasized the special nature of having her guidance throughout the healing process with his family.
The quarterback acknowledged his historically guarded stance regarding his family matters but felt compelled to address long-standing narratives. “I was very closed off about that part of my life,” Rodgers said, noting he reconnected during a long weekend that produced the widely shared photographs. He spent quality time with his brother’s children, Evie and Jack, describing the uncle experience as meaningful.
The estrangement began to thaw in 2023 when Rodgers contacted his father for the first time in nearly nine years at a Lake Tahoe golf event. His induction into his high school hall of fame prompted him to invite his parents and publicly thank them for their historical support.
Brittani also influenced Rodgers’ decision to return for another season with Pittsburgh, though he cited new coach Mike McCarthy as a primary motivator. Rodgers married Brittani in June 2025, a development he announced while revealing a wedding ring at the Steelers’ first training camp last year. The quarterback has stated this will be his final season after 22 years in professional football.
Last season, Rodgers threw for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns under then-head coach Mike Tomlin, leading Pittsburgh to the playoffs before losing to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round at home. His status regarding other family members, including brother Jordan Rodgers, remains unclear.
