Heat index values are expected to reach between 105 and 110 degrees, prompting officials to urge residents to remain hydrated and seek air-conditioned shelter when possible.
Relief is expected to arrive in the form of afternoon thunderstorms, primarily between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., though these storms carry their own hazards. Localized street flooding is possible in areas with poor drainage infrastructure, creating hazardous conditions for motorists and pedestrians alike.
Similar weather patterns are forecast for Sunday, with comparable heat and afternoon storm activity. Residents are advised to schedule outdoor activities for the morning hours and prepare to remain indoors during the afternoon and evening.
