A three-story residential fire erupted in Jersey City on Wednesday evening, forcing families to evacuate their homes and leaving multiple people injured. The blaze broke through the roof and spread across multiple floors in what fire officials described as a rapidly advancing structure fire requiring immediate tactical response.
The fire ignited at approximately 5:30 p.m., according to fire department records. Flames quickly consumed three floors of the building before breaching through the roofline, complicating firefighting efforts and extending the scope of the emergency response.
The incident resulted in injuries to six members of the fire department and one civilian resident. Officials did not immediately provide details regarding the severity of injuries sustained or the total number of displaced residents.
Fire officials are continuing their investigation into the cause of the blaze. The Jersey City Fire Department has not yet released additional information about the building’s occupancy or damage estimates.
