President Donald Trump unveiled what he characterized as a landmark diplomatic accord Thursday requiring Hamas and all other armed groups operating in Gaza to surrender their weapons completely. The agreement was negotiated through the Board of Peace with assistance from international partners Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye serving as mediators in the talks.
Trump declared the accord “historic” and “monumental” in remarks posted to Truth Social, emphasizing it represents a pivotal advancement for both regional stability and security objectives. He characterized the disarmament framework as essential groundwork for establishing governance structures in Gaza under a reconstituted Palestinian administration that would coordinate with the Board of Peace.
The president stated the arrangement simultaneously addresses Israel’s security requirements while removing Gaza as a staging ground for militant operations. Trump indicated the new Palestinian authority would work directly with the Board of Peace to advance conditions for the Palestinian population while meeting Israeli security needs.
The announcement remains preliminary, with additional details expected as negotiations continue and the agreement moves toward implementation.
