Suri Cruise, the 20-year-old daughter of actor Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has officially changed her legal surname to Noelle, according to voter registration documents reviewed by Fox News Digital. The college student at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh is now registered to vote in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania under the name Suri Noelle, which honors her mother’s middle name. Suri previously adopted this name publicly during her high school graduation in 2024.

As an adult, Suri held the authority to make the name change independently without parental consent, according to Monica Mazzei, chair of Buchalter’s Family Law Group. Mazzei explained that Holmes maintained sole legal custody throughout Suri’s childhood, allowing her to make all legal decisions until her 18th birthday. “You can legally change your name to anything you want,” Mazzei told Fox News Digital exclusively.

Holmes and Cruise did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the name change. The former couple welcomed Suri in April 2006 and married in Italy later that year before divorcing in 2012. Holmes has previously emphasized her commitment to protecting her daughter’s privacy, given the intense media scrutiny Suri faced during her early childhood.

In 2022, Suri made her acting debut in “Alone Together,” a film directed and written by Holmes. The actress has spoken proudly of her daughter’s talents and described her parenting approach as one focused on encouraging independence while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
