Authorities in Miami-Dade have arrested two traffic school employees on felony charges for allegedly participating in a coordinated fraud operation that allowed unqualified drivers to obtain licenses. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office took Daniel Delgado, 57, of southwest Miami-Dade, and Luis Alberto Vidal, 55, of Hialeah, into custody on Tuesday morning.

Delgado was employed at Amigos Traffic School while Vidal worked at Millennium Traffic School, according to law enforcement. Deputies allege both men fraudulently issued certificates of completion to students who had not actually met the requirements to pass their driving assessments.

During undercover operations, investigators documented Delgado certifying an undercover deputy as having successfully completed the driving agility test despite the operative committing multiple traffic violations that warranted automatic disqualification. Vidal allegedly certified another undercover deputy who never even took the required tests.

Both men face charges of unlawful use or possession of a driver’s license, official misconduct, and falsifying public records. Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz emphasized that driver’s licenses must be earned through demonstrated knowledge and skill, not obtained through fraudulent means.

Delgado was being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $7,500 bond as of Tuesday afternoon, while Vidal was held on a $15,000 bond.
