McCray’s Two-Run Homer Lifts Giants Past Brewers in Shutout Victory

The San Francisco Giants defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 on Monday night at Oracle Park behind dominant pitching from right-hander Tyler Mahle and timely offensive production led by outfielder Grant McCray. Mahle (3-9) limited the Brewers to three hits over six innings while striking out batters to secure the victory, keeping Milwaukee off the scoreboard throughout his time on the mound.

Luis Arraez opened the Giants’ scoring in the third inning, driving in rookie catcher Jesus Rodriguez from second base for San Francisco’s initial run. McCray then extended the lead with a 406-foot blast to left field in the fourth inning, his first home run of the season, which brought in both himself and Willy Adames to establish a commanding 3-0 advantage.

Milwaukee starter Brandon Sproat absorbed the loss after allowing three runs and six hits across six innings, dropping his record to 3-6. The Brewers’ lineup generated minimal offensive chances, with home run leader Jake Bauers managing just one hit while William Contreras and Brice Turang failed to record any base hits.

The Giants suffered a setback when third baseman Casey Schmitt exited in the second inning after an apparent leg injury sustained while rounding first base. San Francisco now finds itself managing a mounting injury roster that already includes third baseman Matt Chapman and outfielder Jung Hoo Lee, whom McCray was replacing at right field.

The teams resume action Tuesday night with Milwaukee right-hander Logan Henderson (4-1, 3.05 ERA) scheduled to face Giants right-hander Landen Roupp (7-8, 3.93 ERA) at Oracle Park.
