Man Arrested After Breaking Into Miami Beach Hotel Rooms, Stealing Only Apple Juice

Police in Miami Beach arrested a man early Sunday morning after he climbed onto hotel balconies and forced his way into guest rooms at the Eden Roc Miami Beach, located at 4525 Collins Ave. in the Mid-Beach area. The burglaries occurred around 4:15 a.m. after hotel staff notified authorities that Patrick Lee Bryant, 37, of northwest Miami-Dade, had returned to the property and was attempting unauthorized access to guest quarters.

Bryant accessed the fourth-floor balconies by scaling the exterior of the building, according to the Miami Beach Police Department arrest report. He successfully entered two of four rooms he targeted, but his haul proved modest: two containers of apple juice valued at $10 that he consumed at the scene. Officers said Bryant was unable to gain entry to a second room and found nothing to steal in a third, while a fourth balcony door remained locked against his attempts.

Police apprehended Bryant on the hotel’s pool terrace following a brief foot chase during which he resisted arrest. At the time of his detention, Bryant had active warrants for burglary, theft, and two probation violations, along with a criminal history that included multiple theft convictions and a prior escape from custody.

Authorities noted that Bryant’s probation was scheduled to end August 18 and flagged him as a flight risk given his history as a prisoner escapee. He was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Monday afternoon, facing multiple new burglary charges stemming from the incident.
