Musk Pledges AI-Generated Full-Length ‘Odyssey’ Film by Year’s End

Elon Musk declared Wednesday that his AI platform Grok Imagine will produce a feature-length adaptation of Homer’s classical epic that maintains historical accuracy and fidelity to the original author’s work. The X owner, 55, shared a three-minute scene generated by Grok Imagine on his social media platform and promised completion before 2024 concludes.

Musk’s announcement arrives amid ongoing backlash surrounding Christopher Nolan’s film version of the same classical work, which debuted last weekend. The controversy centers primarily on the casting of Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy, a decision that prompted criticism from the billionaire entrepreneur and others.

Since February, Musk has leveled repeated criticism at Nolan’s production, claiming the casting choice contradicts Homer’s physical descriptions of the character. He previously stated that Nolan “has lost his integrity” and later alleged the director selected a diverse cast to secure industry awards.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh amplified similar objections, which Musk affirmed by reposting with the word “True.” Nolan’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment regarding the controversy surrounding the film’s casting decisions.

Nolan’s “Odyssey” achieved the largest global opening weekend of his career, generating more than $264 million after launching Friday. The director previously helmed major franchises including “The Dark Knight” trilogy and “Oppenheimer.”
