Caleb Durbin delivered the decisive blow with a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning off Baltimore pitcher Tyler Wells, striking a fastball over the Green Monster with two outs. Durbin, acquired in an offseason trade from Milwaukee, has rebounded after a slow start to the season and acknowledged the significance of potentially tying the club record. “I want to make history here,” Durbin said of the prospect of matching the 1946 mark.
The Red Sox mounted an impressive comeback effort Monday night, erasing three separate deficits before securing the win.
