The family of Yoseliani Marte, 18, confirmed her identity through a GoFundMe campaign after she was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound inside a Mattapan residence on Saturday afternoon. Marte’s mother indicated in the fundraiser that her daughter died as a result of domestic violence, though Boston Police have not yet made an official identification.
Officers arrived at the two-family home around 1:52 p.m. Saturday following a report and found the victim suffering from a single gunshot injury, according to police records reviewed by Fox News Digital. Public property records indicate the residence is owned by Conan Harris, who has been married to U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., since 2014.
The congresswoman and her family do not occupy the property, which operates as a rental and is currently listed for sale at $1.15 million. A representative for Pressley’s office stated that neither the lawmaker nor her household participated in the incident and extended condolences to those affected by the tragedy.
Neighbors reported witnessing an unusually heavy police presence in the typically quiet neighborhood Saturday, with crime scene tape cordoning off the property. A community vigil was held Sunday night to remember the victim, while Boston Police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
