A violent altercation between two homeless men on Sunday afternoon in Fort Lauderdale left one victim injured and the other in custody. The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. in the 3900 block of Davie Boulevard, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
During the confrontation, one man used a screwdriver as a weapon to stab the other before fleeing the scene. Officers responded quickly to the location and apprehended the suspect a short distance away based on witness descriptions provided at the scene.
Emergency rescue crews treated the stabbing victim at the location for his injuries. The wounded man did not require hospitalization and was released following medical evaluation, authorities said.
Fort Lauderdale police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing and the events that sparked the initial dispute between the two men.
